I'm an academic statistician developing analytical methods to support biomedical research with a focus on epigenetics. I also work with the World Food Programme to assist in the monitoring and assessment of programs to improve food security.
Important to clarify that this applies only to review articles and position papers, which introduce no new science. Regular research articles are still accepted prior to publication, which is the whole reason arXiv exists.

This is far too weak of a statement given the high stakes involved. Why can't the AAU pass a resolution to condemn this compact and stand together against attacks on its members?

H1-B visas are nearly all granted to workers who already have graduate degrees, so it doesn't explain the lack of entry level jobs in tech fields. You can blame misguided reliance on AI and the foundering economy for that.

The logic of sabotaging the ability to hire trained researchers from abroad while simultaneously sabotaging the ability of US universities to train American researchers is truly baffling.

We dealt with this in Louisiana and ended up with a nice compromise policy that limits retail quantities to 5mg THC per unit. Easy enough.
