Pretty much as great as I expected this to be. A great great listen, particularly on good headphones. Music that tickles the brain.

This is just so damn good. The perfect late night headphone listen. This continuous, repetitive, shape-shifting blob of music that you just lose yourself in, delighting in subtle and not so subtle shifts in the music.

I’ve really been digging these Natural Information Society digital compilations. They’ve released three of them and all are fantastic. A great opportunity to check out a bunch of their back catalog, which is not on all streaming platforms. While I’ve really […]

Great seeing Jeff Tweedy at The State Theatre tonight. (yes, that’s John Stirratt on guitar; he sat in on It’s Just That Simple and California Stars).

Plus! It’s the 15th anniversary of the reopening of The State Theatre, easily the venue where I’ve seen […]

I first saw David Byrne live thirty-six years ago at the Orpheum in Boston on the Rei Momo tour—my first concert! Since then I’ve seen him nine more times.

Needless to say, I’m more than a little excited to see him tomorrow night in Portland.

Feeling very fortunate and happy that I was able to get back to Emirates with my son, brother, and nephew for my first Arsenal match in 13 years. Seeing a win which helped them move to the top of the table was a nice bonus. #COYG

Some pretty cool krautrock-y jams too.

Stereolab kicks ass live. Definitely check them out if you have the opportunity.

We live in the stupidest fucking timeline.

OMG fuck off, this is literally Trumps fucking playbook—saying the left is trying to destroy our country, you small, weak little sad excuse for a man.

Trump literally calls the left enemies of the state. Fuck all the way off.

If you’re reading this we probably have at least some overlap in musical tastes. Thus trust me when I say: if you have the opportunity to see Maya Ongaku live, you really should! Sick show tonight in Portland.

This is who establishment Dems want to run against Collins. This is the fucking problem.

I have not minded Mills as my governor, but please get out of the way. If she runs I hope Graham Platner trounces her.

The NYT’s framing of this column is wild. Mamdani is a Democrat. Adams and Cuomo are running as independents. Mamdani is literally a charismatic DEMOCRAT […]

So if you haven’t been paying attention, Talking Heads have recently been releasing live archive performances. (In addition to the live recording that are on the remasters of ‘77 and More Songs About Buildings and Food). Haven’t listened to the ‘78 one yet […]

Really happy with how this dish came out: homemade cannellini beans in a butter sungold tomato sauce (w white pepper and coriander, h/t Sohla El-Waylly). I could eat this every night for the remainder of tomato season.

Caught Hiss Golden Messenger solo here in Portland tonight. MC Taylor has been playing summer shows at One Longfellow Square (a small independent music venue) for the last 10 years when he’s up here on vacation. Always a chill vibe, and tonight’s show was particularly strong.

I’m finally revisiting the Forest Hills run: my 100 and 101st shows. I ordinarily immediately listen to shows I attend (and if they’re good, repeatedly). But these were obviously very special shows for me and excellent performances. Not to get all new-agey […]

Kind of obsessed with this new print in our kitchen. Glad we hung it just in time for the peak of the season.

One of the cool things about Forest Hills is it has its own poster artist. For the last decade he’s been making posters for every show at the venue, always incorporating its iconic horseshoe shape.

I’m not a big concert poster guy, but I’ve snagged one for […]

Beyond happy and grateful to be back at Forest Hills for #101. For obvious reasons I’ve been reflecting a lot during this run. Feeling incredibly fortunate to have had this band in my life for the last 33 years. #phish
