Semi-retired permaculturist master gardener living my best life in an east coast urban area. Protesting against human rights abuses and Constitutional violations when I have the opportunity, and staying in touch with my legislators.
There’s a WAPO article that tells about the multibillion dollar government contracts some of the ballroom donors have…but there’s no quid pro quo involved, right? Right??!

A watermelon plant among a foreign melon. The foreign melon has one tiny fruit on it that I’ve found so far.

My largest, best-producing fig tree this year. The first flush of figs has come and gone. The remaining figs will ripen sometime in October.

My Maypop, a type of passionfruit native to MD, is flowering. I hope it produces some fruit this year, although I’m told the fruit’s not as tasty as what’s sold in stores.

I took extra care with today’s lunch, just because I felt like it.

First fig harvest of the season. Well, I had already eaten one when I took this pic, and I found another one after, so there were five total. Yum!

I believe growing at least a part of one’s own food—especially for city residents—is an act of rebellion against those who would control us. I also believe it is important to maintain biodiversity by planting native plants, to encourage pollinators.

I just learned of reports that Oxycodone tablets were found in flour that was distributed to Palestinians in Gaza by US agencies. There is also some reporting that the flour itself was laced with powdered oxycodone. More in comments.

This really expresses how I feel about what’s going on in the world right now.

I’m trying to landscape mostly with plants native to my area, to attract the pollinators that evolved with the local flora. Saw this yellow creature the other day, sipping from my threadleaf coreopsis. Looks like nothing so much as a yellow cabbage moth to me. Can anyone identify it?

Since Trump and Muskrat are cutting so many services, including our suicide hotline number, apparently, Canada has stepped up to the plate by adding a number to its hotline for its southern neighbors.

If it was good enough justification for us to declare independence in the first place, it should be good enough reason for us to rebel again, shouldn’t it?

In case anyone would like to email any of the DOGE folks directly to explain why what they are doing is not only wrong, but illegal.
