Why are we even doing this particular research? Like, ok, and?? Can we pleaseeee leave investigations of Hitler to historians, genocide scholars, sociologists, etc.

(And I guess the “no, don’t come in” at the door, which afaik doesn’t happen often(?) (based on gender ID, insurance is a different nightmare), is what I picture when I think of denying care. But that’s shortsighted or too literal of me if that’s not how it happens.)

(2) more insidious than just saying “No” at the door

Does it align w your experience that they try to keep up a front of caring for trans patients equally but then slip shit like this under the table/do covert harm & use their MD authority to control the documentation so it looks like it’s your fault or like nothing happened? It’s more insidious than…

That’s awful, I’m so sorry. I guess I’ve been kinda lucky—the worst I got was ghosted by a doctor when I tried to refill a rx after telling them I was trans. I wish we had a better way to track instances of how often this happens& warn other trans ppl of violently transphobic drs
November 13, 2025 at 8:07 PM
I just want to base conclusions on specifics we know are happening. Im speaking from my experience w many docs not at Catholic hospitals but who’re also not necessarily trans friendly, & on what transphobic rules have done so far. I definitely don’t have all the info tho & am curious if others do
November 13, 2025 at 7:30 PM
For sure worth confronting the possibility. Have you seen/heard about specific instances of trans ppl being refused care entirely? (Genuine question)
November 13, 2025 at 7:27 PM
Like, this decision doesn’t instruct them to just leave patients there bleeding w no treatment for something as non-gender-related as a broken bone, but medication interactions w/ HRT will come up & it will get weird & they may give unsolicited advice to stop HRT
November 13, 2025 at 7:22 PM
I’m kind of concerned that talking about it like this may create a bit of fear mongering that could further discourage people from seeking care. My guess is that Catholic hospitals would still technically treat trans patients, but the quality of care would be low & they may generally disrespect us

That’s WILD wtf

What headline are you referencing? That Death Panel episode is on my to-listen list, I’m curious to see how it connects

Woahh trippy. I’ve seen a lot of pronoun pins but never anything like this

If they want to use that metaphor, they should be talking about male bodybuilders and the ways testosterone is over/misused in gym bro spaces. Gender-affirming HRT levels or levels used for cis women are small compared to that, but they don’t want to criticize the Andrew Hubermans & Joe Rogans

Here’s my sign! I was a little disappointed that No Kings Worcester, MA messaging seemed to be “the problem is Trump, the solution is Democrats” (when the problem is much bigger than 1 guy & Dems continue to fund genocide) but the crowd agreed ICE raids need to end & was in support of pub health 🙌

This is nice, but the way Reagan ignored the AIDS crisis, doing almost nothing to stop countless deaths, makes it questionable imo to applaud him for anything

Your work seems really neat! I’m Nola (they/them). I’m finishing up my undergrad degree and interested in researching the history and politics of alternative medicine movements as well as how public health advocates can better counter pseudoscience

What’s a “reply guy”? Also, very cool that people on here are prioritizing accessibility, love that

The lecture-and-test model isn’t the norm in more advanced classes anymore anyway, at least not in my experience, and I doubt chatgpt could simulate a seminar-type class in a meaningful way

As someone who’s also chronically ill, I really appreciated this reframing of illness experiences as helping us develop valuable skills. Doesn’t make symptoms stop being painful, but it’d be great if we got official credit for the extensive work of managing bodies with complex needs

True, but other groups have tried this as well. What made the difference in the scale of said violence was that the lineage you are referencing had the power to carry out colonialism/slavery/fascism/etc. on such a large scale

Understandable. Thanks for being willing to change your thinking in this

I’ll be thinking about these people when I hear “I don’t know why anyone voted MAGA, they must be idiots.” These commenters buy into propaganda lies not bc they’re stupid but bc they’re desperate & want to believe & Dems haven’t hyped up a better ambitious offer
