I did get to the edge of the old property where Wilder wrote the books, I was an hour away in Missouri doing a radio production workshop and twice I rushed after rehearsals to see if I could get there in time for a tour. No dice but gives you a sense how remote she liked it! #PastTimeTea

Edgar Bergen plays the grandfather here. Charlie McCarthy didn't premiere on radio for another 3 years (1936) after this was set - in 1933. About a quarter of the labor force, nearly 13 million, were out of work that year of the Great Depression. #PastTimeTea

Or daffodils that choke you! That whole episode still holds up so wonderfully! The only thing that comes close is the THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD homage ("The Seeds of Doom") later in the decade with the giant mulching machine. The British do rural and plant-based horror so well #CineMon
