I like the notion of designing early trans characters in a way that the characters themselves would love the fan art they get. It doesn't mean trans characters need to conform to beauty standards or anything, just that people way overthink designing "non-passing" trans characters.

to show their femininity even while their design shows they are pretransition. This is fiction we are talking about after all, liberties can be taken in a design to express something about the character before they even figure it out themselves.

Honestly my favorite depictions of early transition trans women are Venus from We Know the Devil and Snapdragon from High Guardian Spice because you can look at them and tell they are girls still. Maybe that technically spoils the surprise when they do crack, but I think it's nice they are allowed-
