Agreed with this. It’s what I did. I keep Windows for apps and games that need it and Linux everything else.

Just standard fare for Columbia to be on the wrong side of protests.

None of that matters. We get people back from governments all the time and this isn’t even a case of someone being imprisoned BY the other country. We sent them there. We can get them back. They just don’t care.

It’s hard to find forgiveness for their cowardice. I went to grad school for journalism and I don’t think any of these collaborators deserve to whitewash their behavior during this administration. They deserve to fail. Maybe real journalism can emerge.

It’s pretty amazing that they had over three months from the election loss to strategize and have basically come up with nothing.

So maybe a world where we feel bad this guy is gunned down we might first take meaningful steps to alleviate the inequality. Until such time, I’ll just continue to feel nothing for these people.
December 12, 2024 at 5:33 AM
I guess I struggle to feel bad when we rarely put faces and pleas for sympathy to the thousands of lives this guy has helped ruin for his and his shareholders’ profits.
December 12, 2024 at 5:32 AM
It’s a tough question. Like I’m wholly apathetic to the plight of rich men who’ve rigged the system for so long, but also it’s a special kind of thing it’s a healthcare CEO from a notorious company.
December 12, 2024 at 5:31 AM
It’s going to have 4 Sinemas in it regardless at some point soon. And Democratic establishment playing its center right games and pushing out/marginalizing any progressives doesn’t help. Democrats have fought against people like the Squad and fought against being pushed left.
December 11, 2024 at 7:46 PM
And the idea that your government must be some large body of incumbents so they “know everything” just doesn’t hold up. That is why we have agencies to advise. Congress already shows an astounding lack of expertise in a number of things and is very slow to adapt to emergent issues.
December 11, 2024 at 7:40 PM
You act like they invented the idea. It’s been discussed for a while. As far as term, they serve six years, so I’d say no more than 2-3 terms. Sure they want it to be disruptive. But I also see the Democratic establishment now as being a problem that doesn’t move.
December 11, 2024 at 7:39 PM
So that you need to be damn near your 50s and 60s to run for major offices to begin with. More youth is desperately needed.
December 11, 2024 at 7:32 PM
And here we are with the Democrats all over already trying to push right anyways. Biden was hardly a progressive. He adopted the messaging of a progressive and did some progressive policy initiatives, but his body of work is basically center right. We need to tackle the issues that make it
December 11, 2024 at 7:31 PM
How do they learn it now? You act like term limits are two years and everyone is out. I think there is some middle ground to life in a political aristocracy and literally no veterancy. Freshmen politicians do learn currently.
December 11, 2024 at 7:28 PM
Wait, so you cherry pick two terrible politicians and say that represents all GenX politicians?
December 11, 2024 at 7:25 PM
Because you equate people with limited choice as somehow endorsing or finding a candidate popular.
December 11, 2024 at 7:23 PM
Donors are still incredibly strong with our current system. It isn’t like these long term incumbents are telling the mega donors to fuck off. Races with incumbents don’t get primaried. How democratic is it to have a singular choice of your party or even maybe no one runs a district.
December 11, 2024 at 7:20 PM
All these years and institutional knowledge and Democrats still can’t develop a new leadership group worth anything. I’d wager most people don’t vote because they like the candidate as much as they have an R or D next to their name and that’s all they know or they have to play lesser evil politics.
December 11, 2024 at 7:18 PM
I think you overvalue this institutional knowledge. You talk about accountability, but they already aren’t really accountable and just keep getting reelected. Younger reps is a positive. Younger MAGA reps tapped into public anger while Democrats floundered and can’t get it together.
December 11, 2024 at 7:17 PM
There really isn’t a reason the same people need to be entrenched in politics for entire generations.
