I've spent every free minute of the last two days working on a "God Rest Ye Adventurers" and "Carol of thy Spells"

I'm working on a few more before releasing, but I can send a preview if interested (always like early feedback).

I fell in love with PoE's WASD as well. Being able to strafe whilst casting feels so good. It makes d4 feel super clunky by comparison, so I'm struggling to play despite wanting to.

I think I like there being a bit of "commitment" to ones build, but this is largely achieved through gear regardless.

Are there any existing tools for filter building/customization? I'd assumed some of the PoE ones had been ported as it seems the syntax is similar.

Yeah, and the passive tree is much more forgiving. It affords experimentation, so build-crafting is far less scary.

The economy does need some work. I think PoE1 being a bit more niche afforded them the capacity to have a trade system that was a little more involved. With the wider audience of PoE2, its a problem.
