one of the things i have turned out to love about an e-reader is the ability to just prop it up wherever and be able to do something else w my hands. peeling masking off acrylic pieces that have just been lasered, while keeping an eye on the laser on the screen, and reading.

also, gardening in an abandoned plot continues to be full of excitement: the Surprise Kale and Not-Beets (chard) have been joined by Secret Oregano and Mystery Allium.
a patch of cheerful, bright green oregano hiding in amongst some grasses some long, stringy green leaves that are alliums and not grass. it looks a little beat up bc I whacked the shit out of it and was about to dig it up before realising it was alliums. there are a few white flower buds near the base that have not grown stalks yet.

#gardenlog from the weekend 🌱
a large, half-finished garden plot. some of it has new mulch and soil added, and small tiles mark out where a path will go later. there is one very happy kale in the bed along with two small chard plants, and a couple more kale growing from the side of the bed bc they just decided to grow like that for some reason. there is a small red glass bird on a stake for decoration. close-up of chard, bright green leaves with pinkish-red stems. some of the leaves have been nibbled on by bugs. blurry photo of many small starts in a small plastic greenhouse.

Nature walk pt one

First time making fudge and I made this www.noracooks.com/vegan-fudge/ vegan one for a party yesterday and I am so happy w how it came out :D
I put hazelnuts in one half and smoked cherries made by @enth.bsky.social in the other and sprinkled them both w sea salt.

Did not get a photo of the roasted balsamic brussels sprouts yet and they are already packed away to transport, but here are the carmelised onion (using the remains of the one that went on the tofurky) and violife “feta” pastry puffs.

Up late preparing some vegan feast day foods. We did the tofurky partly in the smoker and then I finished it in the oven with my usual carmelised onion maple glaze and I am super curious to see how it turned out!

At the makerspace fucking around with #laserengraving settings for a work project and I am so happy with the way the gemini duets engraves! SO much better than when I tried to use the rowmark before.
