Archeolodzy odkryli w Orleanie, we Francji, rzymską nekropolię z ponad 60 grobami, w których znaleziono 21 ołowianych tabliczek z klątwami, tzw. defixiones. Jedna z nich zawiera inskrypcję w języku galijskim, wzywającą Marsa do przeklęcia wymienionych osób za ich niesprawiedliwe czyny.

For #Woodensday the astonishing Kyrenia ship which traded Rhodes-Cyprus-Levant-?Egypt from c. 315 BC.

Sank c.291 BC of N coast of Cyprus packed with goods and equipment that were exceptionally well preserved .

The hull of an ancient boat preserved in undersea anaerobic conditions off the north coast of Cyprus. Timbers are present both along and across the length of the boat. A displa of some of the organic materials found in the hull of the Kyrenia boat: on the left almonds are shown spilling out of a broken pottery vessel, on the right a small vessel with tiny black grains is labeled as fig seeds A replica of the Kyrenia boat is shown as a cross section: the floor of the hull is included running from end to end, over the structure of the hull and the bracing timbers along the profile. Within are some of the amphorae that were recovered from the ship. These have pointed ends and are stacked against one another to demonstrate how this form of vessel packed closely together could be stationary even on the sea.

Utterly depressing news. Last night there was a burglary in the museum of Assen in the Netherlands. Several prized ancient Dacian artifacts, including the golden helmet from Cotofenesti, were stolen. These were on loan as part of the Dacia exhibit which had been touring Europe the last few years.
