Had an accident with one of our outside fuchsia so I took some emergency cuttings. Sitting in water for two weeks and no movement and then today one of them went, "oh yeah lets do a whole shitload of roots all in one day."

Pretty chuffed.

Nice, I get similar seasonal urges.

No power so just hanging in the garden with my favourite blackbird.

This is lifted from The Player of Games by Iain M Banks, Pg 225.

And AGAIN he misses the point of the passage...

I had some glass drink coasters sitting around so decided to do some painting with them today. Quite happy with the outcome.

Same thing but for bits of wood.

Found some time over the last weeks to do some sanding and have now done the first couple of coats of oil. It's come up quite well for cheap pine.

May varnish it for protection at some later date.

Post you from a different era.

1994 New Years day morning & December 1993. Oh the hair.

Aurora?

Still (a year later) trying to befriend the front neighbors cat (technically we're all on the same property). There was a treat out for other visitors but he stuck around long enough have a brief play with my make-shift cat toy, running off with it once he got it. Progress though.

I got impatient and started working on those hinges. Top one cleaned up pretty well (uncleaned on the bottom for comparison).

My favourite is this table though - which I use to this very day (my laptop is sitting on it at the moment).

The last box I did was this potentiometer case and it turned out really well!

Purchased a lovely small box down at the local Vinnies. It's just a reproduction but is solidly built. So it looks like I'm back on my amateur restoration kick again for a little bit. Those hinges may be hard to clean up.

Literally have to hide all my plants in the shed these days.

If you go to the Te Herenga Waka website (even if not logged in) you get a large banner advising all campuses are closed tomorrow.

In preparation for "Big Blow Pt II" I have moved the rest of our plants into one of the sheds. I only do this when there's a risk of everything getting wind-burnt to a cinder because some of those pots weigh a crap-tonne.

Oh yeah going to be an interesting day of marking...

It is a Juncus Twisted Dart if anyone was wondering.

Went to the garden center today, got a weird grass to put on the front doorstep (and some other stuff). Chuffed.

There's one left. Some people don't fuck around. They know what they want; it's brash and abrasive and steeped in their local history.

Do I need to say that people love cats? No.

People love cats.

Then there's the people who go a little abstract, and I love those crazy folks. The gardens are always interesting and a little wild.

So the broken head in the cart is great. They also had a full sized terracotta warrior with honeysuckle all over it, no photo unfortunately.

We did some work for my mum, and while her tastes are a little more "traditional" she has some lovely gargoyles tucked away in places. Plus a wizard of course.

Some are a little more... specific in their interests. These guys had been there for quite a while when we did a rescue on the property and cleared them some space.
