On this day, 18 December 1352, Étienne Aubert was elected pope as the fifth pope from Avignon and named Innocent VI. He was a skilled politician. After his election, he annulled the agreement according to which the college of cardinals was above than the pope.

On this day, 17 December 1354, Margaret II, Countess of Hainaut, HRE Empress, signed a peace treaty with her own son, William I, Duke of Bavaria. A conflict called, the Hook and Cod wars (which would begin again in 1358), was linked to the Hundred Years' War, as England assisted Margaret.

On this day, 16 December 1431, 10-years-old King of England Henry VI Lancaster was crowned King of France at the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. He was the only English king to be crowned king in both England and France.

On this day, 15 December 1428, siege of Orléans was ongoing. It was a key event of entire Hundred Years' War. English tried to defeat the defenders with hunger and built fortifications around the city, French tried to sabotage it by numerous raids.

On this day, 14 December 1363, Jean Gerson the famous French scholar, educator and reformer was born. He was one of the first to defend Joan of Arc proclaiming that her supernatural vocation was authentic. Also he had a great influence on the end of the Western schism.
