MTA did this to nice effect on legacy subway stops with the Enhanced Stations Initiative several years ago and then kind of gave up on it, sadly. Really makes a big difference visually.

Here’s an early concept for the connector (both airside and landside!) and the hotel. Presumably their new plan is just landside?

Yeah, I feel like if Terminal 8 was being expanded they would just call it a T8 expansion. Fun fact: the T8 we have today is only about half of what was originally envisioned, which is why the entrance hall is an awkward shape.
