Shout-out to @kirstdy.bsky.social for lending me an entire binder of math history resources that were gifted to her.
Truly a hero and inspiration of mine in kindness and community building.

Without history, math is isolated techniques abstracted from the ideas, problems, and people that developed them. Students come to think of math as a finished product, as opposed to the reality that it is an evolving field that requires and encourages argument, skepticism, and collaboration.

Just got home from "Annette is a Bimbo".

So so so good. If you are in Saskatoon over the weekend I would recommend seeing it.

It made me laugh (my cheeks hurt from smiling so much), it made me tear up, and the acting was out of this world.

Cannot recommend it enough.

Just finished this book.

A relevant and current description of fascism and the importance of democratic education while also showing how fascist leaders will use education to facilitate oppression and harm.

A must read for any and all educators.

What is Rice?

If you're dragged into an argument against @natbanting.bsky.social (thanks @carterorieux.bsky.social ) a sure fire way to make it 10x more fun is getting his students in on it. 77 students contributed their thoughts to explaining their thoughts on rice and a few helped me hang them up
