Stronger corporate regulation is desperately needed especially now that we're in a new era of corporate and monopoly power. Did you know that the biggest US egg producer actually pretended eggs were in short supply to manipulate prices for record profits? Their profits were up 342% in Q2

Actually a social democrat is exactly what we need at a time of record profits for corporations and rising costs for working people... we have to stop the giveaways to megacorporations and billionaires that they just to manipulate their stock prices and buy elections

Trump's plan to defund NOAA will solve that. No one can worry about tornadoes risk when there are no more tornado risk maps.

Don't forget about the Qatar Trump Golf Course deal they made a couple weeks ago... It's basically Trump's Burisma x1000 but I'm sure his supporters won't mind him making billions off the presidency since it's just another drop in the bucket of his corruption.
May 19, 2025 at 3:21 AM
If he wasn't before, he is now... He's literally causing trillion dollar stock market swings on a whim and never put his assets in a blind trust and is corrupt in the open. It would be very very hard to believe he didn't make billions on insider trading just in the past couple weeks.

He knows how to hold is tongue and be respectful even when the world's stupidest negotiator interrupts him over and over. Trump is so ridiculous he basically just told him he needs more "thank you"s and possibly threatened world war 3 and brought nothing else to the negotiating table.

Didn't this actually happen just before the plane crash?? All fed employees got that OMB memo on Jan 28th...

I was wondering what the heck he was talking about, like is he just pretending he didn't send every fed employee the buyout email? Almost sounds like he's saying it was a scam to get them to stay home and be fired and get no "buyout" but he could just be talking about the work from home thing

It's going to be really tough for Trump because any meaningful change would basically reverse something he already did to make the problem worse. He basically can't fix the problem without showing his actions made it worse. Hire more ATCs reverses HIS hiring freeze, replace FAA head he removed...

Man imagine if perjury in front of Congress could be prosecuted...
January 30, 2025 at 7:54 PM
But it's an official email to over a million employees from the government agency that manages their employment. It may not be legal, we don't really know but undoubtedly some people may have fallen for it.
January 30, 2025 at 2:34 PM
Why not? Trump also issued a hiring freeze for federal employees including air traffic controllers last week. There were several near misses last year and ATC are already understaffed. I'd love to have any hope it could get better but every move so far seems to make it worse.
January 30, 2025 at 2:23 PM
Frankly even if it turns out the military helicopter pilot was just drunk like his new boss, these changes to the FAA are going to make an already understaffed and underfunded mission critical agency way more prone to the next failure.
January 30, 2025 at 11:07 AM
It's only going to get worse if ATC people fear the president will attack them for doing their jobs. They're already understaffed, and experienced people will just leave, especially since they've all been offered the fed employee buyout (whether or not it's legal)
January 30, 2025 at 10:32 AM
I mean risk is always there, it's just a matter of thresholds. If everyone is distracted by trying to make sense of their boss and job and people missing from work and ATC is notably already understaffed. My wife is going through this chaos too because she works with w ppl with federal funding.
January 30, 2025 at 10:21 AM
But also he got rid of the heads of FAA, TSA, coast guard and disbanded air safety committee. Also the email telling every fed employee to not come in to work this week and basically get 8mo severance. FAA was more understaffed than usual, they must investigate how much. Just the job chaos alone
January 30, 2025 at 10:12 AM
Oh also the OMB email asking all federal employees to stop coming into work this week or next and get 8mo severance, who knows how many FAA ppl didn't come in yesterday. Also Trump's air traffic controller hiring freeze. Just the chaos for fed employees is enough but hope investigation will show
January 30, 2025 at 10:09 AM
*fewer FAA employees
January 30, 2025 at 10:04 AM
Also Trump fired the head of TSA, coast guard and disbanded the entire Aviation Security Advisory Committee last week....
January 30, 2025 at 10:04 AM
He also sent an official email to every federal employee basically saying if they resign immediately 2days ago until next week they get 8mo of severance, who knows how many FAA employees just didn't show up yesterday. Early reports are saying pilots were aware there were fewer FAA yesterday.
January 30, 2025 at 10:02 AM
Frankly I don't understand why bluesky has such small character limits. It really truncates the flow of complete information on complex topics.
January 30, 2025 at 9:58 AM
Who knows how many FAA employees went with him. Also Trump/Elon through OPM sent every federal employee an email basically saying they could resign and get 8mo of severance starting 2days ago until next week. Who knows how many FAA employees didn't come in to work yesterday because of that.
January 30, 2025 at 9:56 AM
Don't forget Elon musk demanded the FAA chief step down because Elon complained he was bothering SpaceX too much about safety. He stepped down on Jan20 at the same time Trump fired tons of air safety people.
January 30, 2025 at 9:43 AM
Notably Elon Musk complained the FAA chief was bothering SpaceX too much about safety protocols he felt were unnecessary and demanded he step down.
