My drabble "Cold Coffee Comfort" will be up on 101words.org next week on 9/12. Drabbles are a fun excercise and I'm always impressed at what a good writer can do with just 100 words, or in this case, 101.

I was back in central PA for a wedding so I made time to visit the Midtown Scholar. It's still one of my favorite bookstores of all time. #booksky

My story "Turn Back!" will be featured in the Summer Special edition of Trembling with Fear, the online horror zine by @horrortree.com next Sunday. I can't imagine pursuing writing without the resources Horror Tree compiles, check them out if your looking for open submissions! #booksky #writing

Book club at the Reads & Company bookstore was fantastic as always. This month we read Disco Witches of Fire Island by @blairfell.bsky.social We all loved it! It's so much more optimistic and uplifting than I expected. Now I just want a complete copy of the Disco Witch Manifesto!

I had a great time at the Phoenixville Pride Fest yesterday where I got to meet @blairfell.bsky.social He gave some kind encouragement to keep writing and I'm very excited to read his book Disco Witches of Fire Island for the Reads and Company book club. #prideweek

Popped into a small bookstore at the mall. They had a really nice local author display with a whole shelf for the shop owner's books (nice perk). Love to see it. #booksky #writing

Just finished Fevre Dream by #GeorgeR.R.Martin If you like classic vampire tales or 19th century America as a setting, you owe it to yourself to read this one.

I'd force everyone to read it if I could, but in the words of Abner Marsh, "We all got to make our goddamned choices!"

At Read&Company I saw the paperback of Someone You Can Build a Nest In by @wiswell.bsky.social. I had gifted my hardback copy, so I had to buy it again for my shelf. I can't recommend this book enough. As a horror fanatic, as an asexual, as an aspiring author, it means so much to me.

I stopped at the one phenomenal Reads and Company bookstore and picked up Stag Dance by @torreypeters.bsky.social for a book club at the end of the month. I read Detransition, Baby a few years ago at it blew my mind! Very excited for this!

Ran some errands in Ardmore today and stopped by @maveybooks.bsky.social
Super cute little bookstore with a well curated collection.

Got up to take #5amWritersClub literally and work on my book for a an hour or two before the day begins. But the dog is asleep in the room and the lights or computer would wake him, so I guess I'm just writing bad poems in the dark until he's up :)

I ended #independentbookstoreday at Reads and Company, a real treasure in downtown Phoenixville.

I love Bookshop.org I've moved around several times in the last few years, and several times I've been able to order a specific book I wanted through a specific store I want to support. So cool

Happy Independent Bookstore Day! I stopped by Wellington Square Books and picked up a copy of Tom Lake by Ann Patchett.

Just finished When the Moon Hits Your Eye by @scalzi.com as well as most of the brie the house! The poignant vignettes of the book's MANY POVs are what carried me through to the end. It's an easy recommendation for those who need some catharsis while we deal with our own absurd circumstances.

I always write in the morning before work but all my furniture is packed for moving so this is the setup for the next while haha!

Just finished The Beast You Are by @paultremblay.bsky.social I loved it! It has some very Evenson-like stories, fun tie-ins with A Head Full Ghosts, and the whole collection feels very personal. I just started When the Moon Hits Your Eye by @scalzi.com They couldn't be more different, what delights!

I found myself, as I often do, at an author event at the midtown scholar. @scalzi.com blew the crowd away! The level of storytelling he accomplished with a microphone in an hour was more engrossing and entertaining than most books I've read this year. Color me an instant fan.

A year ago I started writing my first trunk novel. I'm so pleased to report that the thing now has a begin, middle, and end. Its still no good, but I can't help feeling like this was a crucial milestone on my writing journey. To anyone who is attempting the same for the first time: keep on writing!
