With regard to immigrants asking for asylum, it has been enormously inefficient to demand that they make their claims to a CBP officer at the physical border. This has led to the thousands in some kind of limbo until a claim can be judged, chaos and more desperation.

Let's talk about the issue of immigration. Obviously, we can not take in the millions that would like to come. However, we need a certain stream of immigrants for labor (skilled and unskilled). We need a policy that recognizes what our limits are. What is reasonable?

Government policies are not strictly left or right. The issues they are trying to address are complex. There are always overlapping areas. We should not be arguing if someone is right or left, but whether a particular policy properly addresses a universal need.

I support the writers and influencers who are trying to counter the GOP/MAGAs messages. However, if you are only posting on progressive sites, you won't convince the voters who need conversion to win next time.

The DNC hasn't understood the American worker and his interests and concerns. This must change to win in the midterms. We need to find that person who can communicate with the moderates and center sympathetic to our concerns. Obama could. Who's the new Obama?

We can not trust the DNC to have a winning strategy in the future. We only have to look at 2016 and 2024. The errors lie squarely on their shoulders. If we want to defend democracy, we need a plan and communication strategy that will reach beyond BlueSky and progressive media.

I grew up in an era of mass street demonstrations. They may have influenced politics enough to end the Vietnam War. The same strategy for BLM and others, scared the bejebus out of moderates. GOP used examples of the street demonstrations against us in 2024. What strategies will work for 2026?

Instead of memes, let's discuss how do we convert the moderates and center to support the ideals of the Harris campaign. Where were the message failures? What needs to change? We have to be hard on ourselves, and the party in order to affect change in the next 2 years.

Suburban women failed to show up for Harris, in spite of strong democratic messaging on women's reproductive rights. What were the issues that were most important to this group? Immigrants? The 1 or 2 trans kids in schools who want to use the bathrooms or play sports? Economic security? What?

We need to really group think on where the Harris campaign messaging failed among certain groups. I thought the pro labor message was good, but it was countered by GOP fears and hatred. How do we counter? How should the messaging change.

It's great we have so many defenders of democracy here. But, we are largely talking to ourselves. This has been fine for a time of healing. However, we are now less than two years away from the next important elections. How do we move forward?
