Some much needed good news for Pirates fans: Toren Mehta, the 10-year-old fan who caught Andrew McCutchen’s 300th career homer last season, is cancer free. Toren’s family tells me that he finished treatment in February. He’s back to playing organized sports with his friends.

Righty reliever Isaac Mattson is back with the Pirates on a minor league deal, per his Instagram page and the team’s transaction page. Mattson was voted Triple-A Indy’s pitcher of the year this season. He made three big league appearances for the Pirates in 2024.
