I am curious, would you always support a prevailing wage? Even if it was set at $200 and hour .. how about $300? What if it lead to half as many affordable homes being built at those rates?

Silly me, I thought the goal was to help the working class find affordable housing.

Housing that is affordable for working class people seems pretty progressive.

Not sure why it is fair to deny someone who makes $19 an hour a home, so a prevailing wage electrician can make $95 an hour in wage/benefits.

Don’t worry, Bitcoin can still be used for sex trafficking.

Substance use disorder patients who are mandated to treatment: characteristics, treatment process, and 1- and 5-year outcomes - PubMed
A substantial number of patients with substance use disorders (SUDs) are mandated to treatment by the justice system. However, little is known about their characteristics and how they fare during treatment and in the longer term compared with nonmandated, justice-system-involved patients and patient …

I don’t think it is the substance. There are a lot of middle-class folks who are addicted to booze and many of them are essentially forced into getting treatment by their social network. But if you don’t have such a network it is the government that must force treatment.

Mandatory treatment that gives people their good judgment back is a restoration of their autonomy, not a violation of it.

People seek help with mental conditions (including addiction) when others intervene. In a national sample more than nine in 10 reported being pressured to quit or change their drinking by their family, spouse or partner, friends or others.

Pressure to Reduce Drinking and Reasons for Seeking Treatment - PubMed
A primary reason for seeking alcohol treatment is drinking-related legal problems or feeling forced. However, legal problems/feeling forced occurs along with a variety of additional reasons. Future research should assess pathways between receipt of pressure from different sources, recognition of dif …

(2/2) But I would say loneliness is what is fueling increased suicide. It is never been easier to be alone and if you want to prevent this outcome the best thing you can do is to reach out to the person so they feel they have value. Only human outreach reverses the self-thoughts of worthlessness.

(1/2) Absolutely disgusting. However the truth is loved ones often don’t provide much support to the suicidal even they reach out. I get why, folks often do know what to say or do and it can be exhausting to try to help those with chronic depression.

I think you should start by apologizing for calling me a monster and suggesting that I want cops to beat the homeless.
November 4, 2025 at 10:24 PM
Calling me a monster and lying about what I support is not a helpful way to have a policy discussion.

Can you answer my question please?

I do wonder (honestly!) do you think people should be able to live on the street no matter what? At what point (if any) would you allow enforcement and by what means?

There are enough, in fact more than enough, for current demand. If demand increases I hope more are built. This will take time.

These are the words you are trying to put in my mouth. I never suggested there were as many shelter beds as homeless people as of today.
