Got my jabs (flu and COVID). At my CVS, they give you a pretty significant coupon and free popcorn afterwards.

I watched FLORA AND SON this morning. The John Carney film that I missed upon its initial release. When I was a film critic, I might have had a few notes, but as a singer/songwriter and the son of a single mom, I have none. It's not Carney's best, but it fooking worked on me all right

Robert Redford revived the baseball movie with THE NATURAL. The film was a modest hit, but Redford was a tastemaker in Hollywood, and his involvement brought renewed interest to the fading genre. Without it, we wouldn't have had BULL DURHAM, EIGHT MEN OUT, FIELD OF DREAMS, or any of the rest.

Walking through DuPont Circle at night is harrowing experience. People on laptops, yoga group classes, salsa lessons. I barely made it out alive.

I revisited AFIRE the other day on the Criterion Channel. What a beautiful and devastating film.

It also belong to the genre I love called Films in Which Two People Becomes Friends but then Have a Falling Out but then Randomly Meet Up and Smile at Each Other and then the Movie Ends.
