I saw it as a happy medium between site built construction and prefab, offsite or modular construction. Probably leads to happier and more productive contractors, as well as increased job site safety.

I saw the exterior of those when I was there in May, both the Maersk and Nordhavn apartments. At first I thought they were just enclosures for remediation work but then I realized they were building entire buildings inside, which I am sure is worth the cost, especially in colder climates.

First time I ever walked over a bridge that had noise control was two years ago in Tokyo and it was amazing. Much more pleasant experience compared to the bridges in New York, or waiting for the Blue or Red Lines in Chicago when they are in the expressway median.

I put together a sketch a year or two ago of what could be done if redeveloping an entire block and reclaiming/changing the alley. Front and back clusters of buildings.

Idles is easily one of my favorite bands from the last 5-6 years.

How much time do you think has been wasted? I have seen postings about it over the last number of months but definitely don’t have a pulse on the exact timeline. Would be interested to understand the financial impact on the development, too. Design fees, developer fees, construction cost escalation…

I love the 7 train. Rode it a few times a couple weeks ago and have rode it a ton in the past since I have stayed in Long Island City often over the years.

Is that building near Vienna’s transit museum? It looks familiar but I noticed when I was there in April that there was a lot of text on buildings in general.

It is multiple buildings. Renovation of some existing, as well as new construction. It needed to be that tall to clear all the surrounding redwood trees.

Every time I have been to San Francisco this year I have walked around the base and what I could see from outside in the lobby looks very nice. Interested to see what else has transpired inside elsewhere.
