I’m Annika, 40yrs old, disabled and chronically ill activist and illustrator.

I’m Dutch, but mostly write in English online.
I do have a book out! ‘We Zijn Allemaal Wel Eens Moe’ is in all Dutch bookstores 🥰

I’ve been doing a weekly drawing thing since 2021. These are the past four week.
First two weeks were in the middle of a flare, hence the smileys. Third week is a still life of my living room. Fourth week is the incredible Gisèle Pelicot.

She’s survived something super dangerous, and recovered SO quickly.
What a kitty 🥹

Last week her little red sweater was taken off, and today her feeding tube was removed 🥹🩷
She’s gone from several medications every four hours, to only one medicine twice a day.

She’s doing it y’all, she’s thriving 💪🏻😭🩷

Still critical, still not out of the woods, but home 🩷

She needs tube feeding every four hours, with my disabled body that’s impossible to do. So my family rallied together and made a plan so one of them comes over every four hours 🩷

We’re surrounded by love and support, for us both 🩷

Tonight was the first night in months that I felt like having a bath.

Baths are one of my fav things in the whole world, plus they are SUPER helpful for my achy ill body. But I just didn’t feel like having one for ages. Until now.

I think this is a good sign 🥰
