There are lots of shows on Apple+ & other cable networks that move at a snail’s pace. Severance, Silo, Foundation, etc…
The idea may be captivating, but there is only enough content for a movie or 2 episodes. They stretch it out to a full 8-10 episode season anyway.
Slow Horses, however, is great!

Yep, it’s definitely on the Democratic National Committee. They gave up on many states, the GOP solidified it power in those states, and now those states are solidly Red. Dems need a 50 state strategy to be truly competitive.

I wish he was running for the Senate instead. I may be selfish, but Jones would have a bigger national impact if he captured back the Senate seat being vacated by that ignorant, empty suit. Being Gov. of Alabama is great for the people of Alabama, but capturing the Senate back is great for the USA.

This is a gross oversimplification, but lately Republicans are more interested in winning elections, Democrats more interested in governing. Unfortunately for the Democrats, you have to go through that annoying process of getting elected in order to govern…

I am a Roman Catholic (retired) and my wife’s family is Orthodox. We get the benefit of celebrating Christmas and Easter twice each year. (Except for Easter this last year where both Easters fell on the same day, which is very rare.)

You have paintings of Eisenhower and Marshall, two giants of American Military history. Where’s the painting of Hegseth.

That’s the first thing I thought when I heard about Trump’s reversal.

Pam Bondi said this after a man attacked the office of the Alina Habba:

“Any violence or threats of violence against any federal officer will not be tolerated.”

Really, Pam?

Does Jan. 6th count?
How about attacks on Capitol Police or threats to a sitting Vice President and the Congress?

I’ve asked myself how someone like that can rise to be the president of the young Republicans, and then remember that cruelty is the point with MAGA…

Right, Make America Great Again…Bring back the days before the Clean Water and Clean Air acts! Gut the EPA, let industry pollute again, and Make America Healthy Again!

Thrilled that Malinowski is running in the NJ 11th, my congressional district. Now we just need someone to run in the NJ 7th against that empty suit who caved to Trump, Tom Kean.

Must be nice for the Trump administration to have SCOTUS on speed dial.

Tom, I enjoy reading your take on things, and I don’t want to get “into the weeds” too much on this point. We’re not the Soviet Union, but even great countries break & can fail when they have leaders & political parties who are oblivious to geopolitical & economic reality, & lie to their people.

As someone who laments the “Death of Expertise”, you should appreciate how prescient he was about a great many things, including people having their own “facts”.

Except that Moynihan wasn’t betting on 7 or betting on red in a casino that year. He was saying that the rot in the USSR would fester for a decade and then eventually it would implode on its own, which is what happened 13 years later. He also used to talk about everyone having their own facts.
November 7, 2025 at 4:50 AM
My point is twofold.
1. There were only a few individuals who did accurately see how weak the USSR was.
2. Great nations fail when the forces pulling them apart exceed the forces holding them together.
We would be wise not to downplay or minimize the strength of authoritarian voices within the US.
November 7, 2025 at 4:42 AM
Moynihan’s prediction was viewed with great skepticism, if not complete distain, and he was regarded as a naive liberal, when the plain fact was that he was one of the few individuals who saw the total dysfunction of the Soviet economy and the fissures developing within the individual republics.
November 7, 2025 at 4:35 AM
In 1979 Daniel Moynihan predicted that the Soviet Union would be lucky to last another 10 years. He was off by 3 years. That’s a highly accurate prediction, especially when compared to the view of many American conservative hardliners who viewed it as a monolithic threat well into the late 1980’s.

Worse yet, he was a DJ at one point in his life, subjecting many, many people to his horrible taste in music!

Should also add:

HE SMELLS TERRIBLY
Because….Well, we’re not sure why, but we think it’s because his adult Pampers leak!

It’s totally reasonable and acceptable that I would never want to live next door to JD Vance, and that has absolutely nothing to do with with the fact that both
his wife and his children are Indian…
