There's slight changes in the UK. But there's still too many drivers not prepared to work late or weekends because the couriers won't pay enough to do that.

And the situation with shops is very different in the UK as well. Would be harder to get places to act as drop off points.

And that's assuming they use those couriers to deliver. There's rarely a choice regarding who to use. And smaller traders often use an intermediary who finds the cheapest so even the seller doesn't know until it's sent.

Might be different in the US, but here in the UK most couriers offer nothing other than rearrange delivery (still needs a day off work) or pick up from depot.

DPD has pickup locations but none are convenient.

Royal Mail can redirect to Post Office but they're only open until 5pm.

I would do that if the other company could get it delivered to me as effectively as Amazon.

The problem is, with other companies, you have to take a day off work to get it delivered. And that's assuming they do named day delivery.

With Amazon I can either get it dropped off locally or on a weekend

And when they realise it's better than USA Beef, they'll not come back.

Europe can be incredibly united. It's like a family. All sorts of silly arguments app the time. But, if someone outside the family says something bad about any of them, all those differences vanish.

Show me one poll that shows Labour voters want Starmer.

They were prepared to put up with him as possibly not being as bad as Sunak.

But it's a case of preferring to be short in the knee-cap as the alternative is being shot in the head.

The number of people killed in mass shootings for one.

Not going bankrupt because you need to see a doctor for another.

It's simple. When people find things aren't "working" for them, there's a tendency to look for "something different". Trump is seen as representing change.

The UK has over 50% more population than CA. Don't need 3 weeks to count them. Neither do Spain, Italy, France, Germany, etc.

There's a certificate issue with the link

I actually think some people are creating obvious bot accounts to create a reasonable block list that they'll then expand to people they want to stop.

Microsoft Excel: The cup is February 1st (or 2nd January if you're American)

I don't doubt that Reform will expand. But I also think the Greens will expand as well.

Ask people which company names the fastest EVs. Rightly or wrongly most will say Tesla. So, if you're a "Speed Merchant"you're more likely to buy a Tesla than any of the others. Would be interesting to see it split down by model rather than make.
November 23, 2024 at 3:39 PM
Think of the sort of people who would buy a Tesla rather than another EV or whatever.

Are you picturing the most sensible drivers around?
November 23, 2024 at 3:14 PM
Personally, I think it could well be a squeeze on both sides. Reform taking the older vote and Greens taking the younger vote.

If it ends up with a hung Parliament next time, it will be interesting.

Greens, Reform, Lib Dems, SNP and PC all pushing for electoral reform.

Luckily, the UK is a lot more left wing than the US. Some of the Democrat politicians would be Tory "Wets" in the UK. The likes of John McDonnell are further Left than any of them (Including AoC or Bernie)

This means that the 'hope' might come from the left (Greens?)
November 23, 2024 at 3:10 PM
People can be very naive. Especially when they are also desperate.

The grass may not be greener on the other side of the fence, but if you're knee deep in mud, even the hope of some grass may be good enough.

I also suspect some people voted Trump on the basis that they can put up with 4 years of him if it means Dems have a big rethink.
November 23, 2024 at 2:45 PM
All Dems offered 4 years ago was "Biden isn't Trump".

Some of the people who voted Biden to get Trump out now realise that it made no difference so they couldn't be bothered to vote this time.

How are they going to get cushy jobs as advisors to the energy companies if they screw them financially?
November 22, 2024 at 7:52 PM
We need to convince the people who genuinely believe it is about rest rooms of that.

Problem is that too many people drive those people away as "transphobic" rather than trying to win them over.
November 22, 2024 at 6:23 PM
They're still counting ballots? India had twice as many people voting than the total US population and were finished within a few days. Including votes from places so remote that there was only one registered voter for the relevant polling station.
November 22, 2024 at 6:01 PM
Part of the problem is that people deny there are any cases. All it takes then is for someone to say "There's one. You're a liar". Suddenly everything is 'You're a liar'

And dismissing people who have these sorts of views as "Transphobic" pushes them further into the arms of the ringleaders.
