Dark Sky Island has the most distinctively dark and sad energy out of all of her albums. It’s a little more obvious this was about her mom passing. And it works great for some of the songs which take on a far more direct lyrical approach this time around. It’s solid and shows a lot of maturity 8/10

And Winter Came..definitely is not your standard Christmas album and I love it for that. It’s obviously a winter themed album but it delivers in every sense imo. The album feels like gently falling snow on a cool December evening. And yeah there are some Christmas songs but I find them welcomed 8/10

Amarantine feels almost futuristic in comparison. Like a person far in the future using orchestral instruments in the future. But with almost a tribal pattern at the same time? It’s a strange sound that I’m not really able to pin down exactly. It works well but I feel it lacks a standout track 7/10

A Day Without Rain brings back the energy a bit with a more mellow tone again. To me it’s always felt like a story from long ago with each song feeling like a story from ages past. “Only Time” as we know is her biggest hit and it perfectly conveys this. It also has a renaissance vibe to it 9/10

Memory of Trees is arguably just as great as Shepard Moons imo, the tone of Memory is a lot grander and dare I’d say hopeful? The only word that I can describe this album with is “hopeful”. But it definitely has a mystical Forrest aura as well. Not really a big single but Anywhere Is, is great!10/10

Shepard Moon perfection ofc, but specifically for its mature and romantic tone. Compared to Watermark, Shepard is a lot cooler and more relaxed but it still has upbeat pop stuff like on carribean blue. But overall the album has a great and gentle vibe that’s great for a bubble bath or bedtime 10/10

Watermark big improvement. The whole album has a bright and vibrant sound that makes me think of watercolors. It’s boarderline pop moments like Orinoco Flow and Evening Falls definitely challenge what pop music was at the time and it’s more Instamental tracks like River have a pretty solid flow 8/10

The Celts soft subtle debut moment I like but tbh I havnt found much that memorable, the title track included. Its actully the only album I don’t own on cd. 5/10
