Run, don't walk, to see Raoul Peck's film, "Orwell: 2+2=5." Composed of Orwell's writing read by an actor with clips from historical and contemporary happenings, it demonstrates how clearly he describes the present day. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/02/m...

Oops—one of the US prisoners released in the swap with Venezuela was not a political prisoner but had been tried and convicted of murdering three people in Spain over a jealous rage.

Estimates of participation in the No Kings protests are as high as 12 million, yet the @nytimes.com manages to ignore the whole event. They do, however, highlight an unrelated protest in Europe.

Euphemisms like “larger goal” and masculinist words like “raw power” and “showdown” to describe a setup, with TASS (but not AP) somehow in the audience. That’s not helpful, @nytimes.com. Note how the NYTimes has framed Zelenskyy as a spurned woman (“jettisoned”).

Note the idolizing, masculinist language: "driven," "frenetic focus," "channeled his resentment" (as if the outcomes were deserved)

Hey @nytimes.com, here’s a more informative headline from @nbcnews.com that gives us a sense of what the economic consequences are likely to be.

Note the masculine-feminine coding in @nytimes.com headlines on Trump (“blunt force”) vs Trudeau (“emotional”). The gendered coding of the US vs Canada is reinforced by the imagery of fist-pumping Trump vs Trudeau’s strained face and open palm.

Again, the @nytimes.com chooses to use masculine-coded language to describe Trump ("muscular," "testing limits of authority") while burying the lede on what will perhaps most impact Americans: tariffs imposed on US's biggest trading partners, resulting in higher prices for all. @nytimes.wtf #media
