Account for 2024 Neural Mechanisms of Acoustic Communication Gordon Research Conference and Seminar. Run by Diana Liao and Nick Jourjine.
It's time to pass the torch to our 2026 GRS co-chairs: the Bluesky-less Rebecca Hill and Katherine Anderson! We're so excited to see what the next meeting will bring 🥳🥳🥳

We know gordon conferences are expensive! We're working hard finalizing a budget to help w/ travel & registration costs, especially for early-career researchers.

And don’t forget you can choose a shared room when registering- that will save you💰& lead to some new colleagues!

We are at a different venue this year: the Jordan Hotel at Sunday River in Maine! Sandwiched between scientific activities, afternoons are free for hiking, kayaking, and more. 🥾🛶🌲

Additionally, we will walk through a workflow for organizing raw acoustic data, vocal segmentation, feature extraction, and call classification using the latest machine-learning methods! We hope to see you there! 🥳🥳🥳 3/3

The NMAC GRS is a two-day meeting (May 18-19) before the GRC just for early-career researchers! All talks will be selected from submitted abstracts. We're modifying deadlines so excuse any confusion. To be considered for a talk, please submit an abstract before March 31, 2024!

There seems to be two meetings: what's the deal?

The NMAC GRC is the main conference for scientists from all career stages on May 19-24, 2024 at Sunday River, Maine.

The preliminary program can be found here (grc.org/neural-mechani…); the deadline for applications is April 21.

This will also be the inaugural NMAC Gordon Research Seminar – a meeting the weekend before the GRC (May 18-19) just for early-career researchers. Our theme this year will be celebrating diversity in the model systems, questions, and scientists studying animal communication.
November 14, 2023 at 4:33 PM
We are also securing funding to offset registration and travel costs, prioritizing under-represented groups and early-career researchers. Please indicate your interest in funding when you apply.
