Replaced the Fire TV with a 65" LG OLED and watching everything I can find in Dolby Vision. Lawrence of Arabia on Apple TV looks so sharp & vibrant, I had to watch it three times in a row. It's amazing for a film that's near 65 years old now.

This Trump hand injury is nonsense. Why hasn't the mainstream media heard of Acute Punchelonitis, or

Chronic Punch-Elon Fatigue Syndrome (CPEFS)
Elon-Punch Neurospasmodic Disorder
Hyperelon Punchmania
Elonic Punchular Dystrophy
Punch-Elon Cognitive Dissonance

Got a couple AMD BC-250s a while back when they were ~$50 eBay anticipating GPU support will come & now has. Linux distros w/latest MESA boot w/full GPU support.

Playstation5 w/PC BIOS so quite fascinating, Unified GDDR6 @ 450GB/s, raytracing support, 8pin PCIe to power.

Got obsessed with Rune Johansen's Surface-Stable Fractal Dithering. Thought it was complicated shader magic, but two viewings & it clicked. It's simple!

Multiply pixel pattern texture to flat shaded surface, apply threshold to frame. Presto!!

Bet it's possible to do it 1-pass realtime on Amiga.

I'm not much of a retronerd about vintage PCs but saw this cheap on eBay, posted everywhere about it, hadn't sold for weeks so I had to! Damaged display looks replaceable with iPad 10" w/driver, mind racing with casemod ideas, maybe an Pi 5 SBC upgrade hmmm.

A propose a new kind of GPU benchmark.

How fast can your GPU read a 93 page short story and write a thoughtful summary and review?

This is running in Ollama on a NVIDIA P102.

Little experiment with Hailu today with a few credits left so rough incomplete cut right now but largely took direction exactly with a few continuity errors I can fix by hand.
January 31, 2025 at 8:27 AM
Hailu now allows using headshot for consistent characters and I'm really excited for this. It also seems to take better direction regarding camera motion although the faces can be sometimes pretty off. This looks like if Dirty Harry was a Quentin Tarentino movie. Love the people in background.

Speaking of luggage, saw this at Halted just before they closed and HAD to have it. If DeLorean ever made luggage PCs in the early 80s... Lasair 1510

Heard about two loose goats & this image came to mind. Wanted practice with Krita masking/selection tools. Used ideo & MJ for elements but Krita's direct SD integration is insane. Krita's selection-by-color is super frustrating but Krita is the only paint app that has Python scripting built in.
