Amid the final $58.8 billion New Jersey budget signed by Governor Murphy on June 30, an NJCPA survey of nearly members taken in June found that they have a more pessimistic view of New Jersey’s economy for the second half of 2025 compared to the national economy.

80% of the 350 CPAs we surveyed said Gov. Murphy's proposed $58.1 billion budget for fiscal year 2026 will leave the state’s economy either marginally worse or significantly worse over the long term.
