I agree on the need for alternatives. Our assessments align with ILOs, accommodate adjustments, and meet professional requirements. If either are unsuitable, an individual alternative following our policy would be agreed on. A text-based discussion may then be considered.

I feel that it’s so true. As staff, we were once students, and I’ve noticed that we often benchmark against our own assessment experiences. There seems to be a tendency to worry that novel forms of assessment might disadvantage or adversely impact students future academic progression

Open-minded leadership is so important—it sets the tone for innovation. Mutual trust between staff and students is definitely key…. This means some staff/teachers need to learn to trust and respect their students more. #LTHEchat

Absolutely! That’s exactly it—assessments should give students space to explore, grow, and surprise even themselves. Sadly, a lot of antiquated beliefs still linger, holding back real progress. If we can’t create assessments that inspire and empower, then what are we even doing? #LTHEchat

Absolutely, options are crucial. We should also consider alternative assessment choices for students who may not feel comfortable being assessed via podcast.
