“Hamnesia.” What is it with this need to mock animals fighting for their lives and their freedom?

Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Police in Washington engaged in an "old-style farm roundup" when multiple chickens, pigs and piglets fled from their home and tied up traffic on a Kent-area road.

The Kent Police Department said on social media that officers responded to a 911 call about farm animals obstructing traffic and arrived to find several creatures running loose in the roadway.

"The crew began corralling them, but they ran a-fowl when the free range feathered friends kept evading capture," police wrote. "We thought the pigs might recognize the PD as friendlies and be more cooperative. But perhaps in their collab-boar-ation for a freedom run, they bonked their heads and had hamnesia."

How to get through to people to please stop equating cops (who exist to serve and protect the interests of capital) with pigs (among some of the most victimized by capitalism on this earth).

Nonhuman animals are so oppressed and invisiblized that billions of them screaming and bashing their skills against iron bars their entire lives does not enter the radar of everyone from Noam Chomsky to Gayarti Spivek, or at best a mere footnote

A company killing millions of animals for profit is a “business” but freeing one animal from a cage is “extremism.” Leveling a city with 2000lb bombs is a “military operation” but resistance to being wiped out is “terrorism.” Not a blink as the health care industry kills thousands to funnel profits to the top but one of it’s CEO gets off’d and the entire policing apparatus gets activated.

The creation of a positive (self-)image of the dairy industry therefore also depends on processes of selective foregrounding, as the well the substitution and addition of elements, to craft a vision of dairy farming as bucolic, traditional, family-oriented and sustainable, and to provide a picture of ‘happy’ and ‘healthy’ cows in comfort. This resultant narrative diverges significantly, as we have noted, from documented concerns about animal welfare and environmental degradation.

It takes a lot of self control not to say mean things about people who think a good time is getting all dressed up to go out and torture animals. But anyhow these hunt sabs are heroes for making sure they go home empty handed.
