That is, unfortunately, certainly part of it. Though it doesn't explain why the three worst teams in '24 to '25 attendance change are the Canadians.

I would love to know how many Away fans they draw in normal years compared to this year.

Since the shirt went over his head it's an automatic yellow by the rules. Complain to IFAB, not the individual ref.

Players know this rule and (as Denkey did here) can "buy" an excessive celebration pass for the cost of a YC.

A novelty cup is fun but ≠ rival. (Especially when that cup was created by charitable agreement of the teams and mayors, not birthed from a malestrom of bitter enmity by the fans.)

Cincinnati City Council in February of 2017 voted to declare the Cincinnati a "sanctuary city," a decision that was billed then as a directive that meant city police wouldn't enforce federal immigration laws against people in the city illegally. The sanctuary city designation came under a different mayor, council and administration. But the current administration adheres to the spirit of it. In practicality, the designation has proven symbolic. People have been deported as required by the courts when they're convicted of criminal charges, but the city has never proactively worked with the federal government to identify people who are in the country illegally. "The 2017 designation was about declaring our priorities as a city – being an inclusive and welcoming community, and not proactively volunteering our local resources for federal immigration enforcement where we had no formal role," Pureval said. Cincinnati has no responsibility as it relates to enacting and affecting federal immigration law, Pureval said. "Until that changes we will not be involved," Pureval said. "We have not been involved and will continue to not be involved. But it just depends on what the law is. We will have to wait and see what changes are made at the federal level as it relates to cities' involvement."

He said it's a tough balance, because the city needs federal resources and it would not be smart to unnecessarily risk that on political battles we are sure to lose.

(That's sort of like complying, but only in a context where the city would lose anyway and not as extreme as "no matter what.")

And that includes not picking political fights that we know we're going to lose. What's most important to me is to have a strong productive relationship with the Trump administration." He added, "As mayor, I was sworn in on the Constitution and the charter, and it's my job to also uphold the law and to effectuate laws that have been passed. So it's a tough position for sure."

They will absolutely be doing this again.

Adjustments were indeed made. For the 2022 Men's World Cup, FIFA announced that more accurate (i.e. longer) stoppage time would be a point of emphasis for the referees. (The message quickly filtered down to domestic leagues and other tournaments.)
