The only way in which They Live aged poorly is that the MO is no longer to keep you asleep but rather to keep you in a constantly heightened state with sensational sportscasting headlines.

Been seeing what feels like an increasing number of false stories that stoke leftwing outrage. ICE is not buying guided missiles, according to a WIRED debunking. And while the Coast Guard has amended their policy to call swastikas and nooses "potentially divisive" instead of "hate symbols", the […]

Every year my partner and I watch Hallmark Christmas movies simultaneously ironically and not ironically. This year we started with The Holiday Sitter (2022), their first one with a leading gay couple. If you want a Hallmark movie that's exactly as cheesy as normal but gay, then I can't […]

The biggest struggle I have with fully abandoning my car for the ebike is multi destination trips. I worry that my stuff won't be safe if I leave it at the bike, or that stores won't let me bring in bags. Anyone gave thoughts/solutions on this?

So we made poor people starve for 2 weeks while middle class people worked without pay until rich people got so uncomfy about air travel delays that they caved and gave up on healthcare for poor people.

Anyone currently or previously involved in a time bank? Been talking with some people about starting a local one but very curious about others' experiences. #timebank #mutualaid #circulareconomy

AI equivalent of when you ask a group a question and someone has to let you know they don't know the answer before anyone else can talk.

Efficiency is destroyed by capitalism. There's no reason I can't have a full house system that only heats or cools the rooms people are in without being connected to the internet, except that connecting it to the internet allows companies to harvest user data and sell subscriptions and push ads […]

Recently been exploring the idea of remaining mostly plant based with the only exception being hunting or fishing for noncommercial reasons. So no store bought animal product, fishing myself is fine, being served something someone else hunted is fine. I haven't fully thought this through yet but […]

In case you ever wondered what a free store running out of a house church looks like, here's some photos (featuring only volunteers, before visitors came).

I think somehow I didn't know that Mindustry is FOSS? That game is amazing, played the heck out of it with friends a couple years ago. Everyone should check it out.

I'm feeling troubled by tomorrow's No Kings event. It's described as a protest, but the local one us at a park with booths and maps and everything. It feels more like a festival. And a festival of radical people getting together is cool. But to me "protest" implies becoming inconvenient to the […]

It feels like to me that the biggest mistake we Americans have made is not demanding the right to assembly be treated as absolute as the right to free speech, despite both coming from the same amendment. I genuinely don't understand how curfews are seen as legal at all, or how an assembly can […]

I feel like people see bikes and irrationally associate them with slowness. I get aggressively passed on residential streets at least one week. I'm on an ebike, I'm already going to speed limit! And then half of those people promptly slow down to the speed limit and now the only difference is I […]
