“…Africa is emerging as a key arena in Beijing’s efforts to internationalize the yuan, especially in nations that are heavily indebted to it. Kenya this year converted $$ loans it owed to 🇨🇳 into yuan-denominated debt, Ethiopia began talks to do the same, & 🇿🇲 said it would consider following suit…” 🗺️

Thanks Jonas. For folks interested in a deep dive, we are hosting a webinar on this Thursday the 18th at 9am ET. Register here: tinyurl.com/ChinaGreenFDI
Welcome! You are invited to join a webinar: China’s Green Leap Outward: The rapid scale- up of overseas Chinese clean-tech manufacturing investments. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the webinar.
The Net Zero Industrial Policy Lab at Johns Hopkins University invites you to a webinar presentation of our groundbreaking new analysis of China’s foreign direct investment in overseas clean-tech manufacturing. The China low carbon technologies FDI database is a preliminary part of the broader Global Low Carbon Technology FDI database, hosted by NZIPL and GDP Center at Boston University. A rapid acceleration in overseas investment by Chinese green technology firms is reshaping the global clean-tech landscape. Since 2022 alone, overseas Chinese investments have surged past USD 220 billion, spanning sectors such as batteries, solar, wind, new energy vehicles (NEVs), and green hydrogen. These investments now reach 54 countries across every major region. During this webinar, our team will break down the sectors and countries where this investment is targeted, the database we developed to track FDI, and the policy implications of our data. https://www.netzeropolicylab.com/china-green-leap

On the tariffs @strangeloopcanon.com over at the other place has pretty convincing evidence that the White House may have used LLMs to come up with its tariff model and that that evidence may have come from LLM scraping of a Peter Navarro book. We are in the dumbest AI timeline.
