How, as a soft smile graced her lips and her shoulder brushed against his, a young historian's entire being was set aflame with the germinated seeds of veneration. He once told himself there was nothing obscene in seeking comfort from the scent of her skin. As he wandered a stagnant land, he wept at how tenderly she had laid her warm cheek upon his shoulder… That it were no mere dream when her slender fingers lingered on his own. It took nigh on a century to convince himself only naïve fools clung so desperately to the dead, and yet a brief, scathing glare was all it took for his crystalline walls to become dust in the wind.

These are from two separate #ffxiv pieces (a prompt and a one shot), and they're my favorites since getting back into writing a few weeks ago.

I don't care much for the "red thread of fate" trope, but G'raha/WoL is kind of the epitome of it... Turns out, it's pretty fun to write about!
Her words were a white-hot brand, undiscerning of skin from soul. His mind flashed back to the clever little mouse hidden in shadow, lying in wait for the keen, sharp-eyed owl to play his clever little game–yet here he lay, having bedded her moonlight-gilded talons and wings. It seemed that neither the passage of time nor the final exhale of death could quell the mouse’s fervent yearning for the owl. He was now the reluctant arbiter of the tender child she concealed, and she paid for each judgment with a taste of her coppery lips, of her bruised and salt-grimed skin.

we strayed from god's light when Yoshi-P stopped requiring a NASA degree to play BLM (subsequently dropping the meme rotation potential off a cliff, which is a TRAVESTY). also the removal of (most?) positionals was... a choice.
