I build PCs for fun.
I take lots of pictures, some good.

Principal SRE Manager for the M365 Engineering Systems.
Took a while to figure out how to fit everything in the cabinet. I was even able to cut a channel in the edge of the cabinet to run the fiber under the trim of the media cabinet.

Got Xfinity's 2Gb symmetrical fiber service installed today. Speeds are above advertised and $32/month cheaper than I was paying for Wave 1.2Gb/50Mb service. Faster service for less money is a win. I am a little annoyed I'm required to have their gateway.

Had a nice relaxing evening building an ITX system for a friend. First build in a fractal Era2, really well designed case. Fit a 5080 and a 240mm AIO with ease.

I'm glad I have Game Pass Ultimate Pre-paid through July 2028.

Got my 25-year Service Award crystal unboxed and on display. Our team moved to a new neighborhood in the building, giving me more room for them. For much of the day random rainbows can be seen scattered around the neighborhood.

I did something similar in my office back in the early 2000's

Though I surrounded mine with all the failed components I replaced.

It wouldn't be an Elder Scrolls game with random crashes to basic error dialogs.

That's so vastly different than how I organize my phone, I keep my homescreen empty.

A few apps in drawer and everything else in an alphabetical indexed list.

Testing out an AMD Strix HaloPro based mini workstation.

This thing is dense. It weighs much more than I would have expected.

Some pictures from the last time we did beer and brownies. No pics of the brownies.

It's also still part of Zillow's form for editing the home details.

A few of us went to the #SeattleProtests #HandsOffSeattle #HandsOff today. Chanting to Pramila Jayapal's speech actually got me emotional. The energy of the crowd and what we are trying to save was triggering in a positive way.

Here are just some of the pics I took today.

There was a small Microsoft 50th Anniversary celebration in the office today. Tasty cupcakes :)

Also being born in 1975, I found the "Back in 1975" Banner kinda cool. Learning the X10 home automation system was that old is a bit shocking.

Wow. Made me wonder how just my wife and I use so much power. Looks like it's primarily EVs & all my computer equipment, but this is just data from Winter months. In the summer, our HVAC is the primary consumer.

Are external GPUs even a consideration?

I have this 4090 that cost almost 2x what the laptop did, but it does have 16GB of VRAM.

ASUS has a new version here: rog.asus.com/us/articles/...

I think it's this setting.

I know I've gotten the popup asking me which app to use for navigation links in the browser with the option of Just once or always.

That statue gets around. It was in B36 for a long time and started in the millennium campus AFAIK.

From Halo 2 launch night.

Picked up my C40 today after getting new axle shafts under warranty to resolve fluttering noise under acceleration TSB and saw they had three of the new XC30s all lined up.

Interesting new colors. Not for me, but it's nice to see cars that are not just red, black, white or grey.

Neat. SolarEdge updated their interface. Nice to see the improvements in look and functionality.

It's been a while since I upgraded from a single 7.6kWh inverter to 2 & it's finally sunny enough at times to see I'm no longer clipping. While it's not consistently sunny enough yet, it did hit 10.3kWh peak. I'm hoping I'll have some months where I produce over 2mWh & perhaps hit 16mWh for the year

Last night in Kona. Heading back to reality in the morning.
Back to work next week. Not sure when we will be back as I don't plan on booking another vacation with air travel until sanity returns to the federal government.
