It’s around 4am… I rarely get a decent night’s sleep these days. Which is probably unwise as I had a heart attack last year. Yet sleeping comfortably seems to normalise a global reality born of Orwellian nightmares, where villains are lionised and victims vilified. I will be awake till dawn… again.

I cannot even begin to express my deepest sorrow at the passing of Zakir-ji. He dazzled me as a teenager and inspired me throughout my adulthood. Some geniuses become musical greats and others transcend the limitations of their instrument to redefine music itself. That is just part of his legacy.
