Growing up in Pittsburgh, I learned how to drive on an automatic, but my first job overseas – in Dushanbe Tajikistan – I was taught how to drive a stick by a drunk Swedish nurse I had to get home from a party. (While she was fluent in English, she could only give instructions in Swedish when drunk.)
