BEKWKFKWOLW CAP???? HELLO???????
November 17, 2024 at 2:19 PM
Techno didn't need to say another word. They were ushered inside immediately, given sets of warm clothes while the kettle ran to make the kid a tea. Phil may not know the details yet but he knew he'd have to get them back on their feet first.

The rest could wait.

Sick, too, if the sniffles had anything to say.

Before Phil could say anything, Techno spoke.

"They betrayed us, Phil," his friend said, voice so hoarse and tired Phil couldn't suppress a wince.
November 16, 2024 at 10:30 AM
Techno looked awful, to put it bluntly. Face paler than he'd ever seen with eye bags that told a tale of deep rooted exhaustion. His signature hair was a mess, and lacking the crown. Tommy didn't look any better, the kid's nose and cheeks red, eyes glassy and tired.

What he didn't expect was to find that very friend standing at his door, a hand raised as if he were about to knock, with the very much not dead crown prince bundled in a now slashed up, dirtied cloak and tugged to his side.
November 16, 2024 at 10:29 AM
His mind was made up in seconds, papers discarded on the table as he swiftly walked to the door, only grabbing his hat. The flight would only be a couple hours long, which left plenty of daytime to interrogate his friend.
November 16, 2024 at 10:29 AM
Reading this now, though, he couldn't help but wonder if he had made a mistake. If he had misjudged Techno's character this much. Had something happened? Did his friend go mad? Was it a ploy?

The newly appointed advisors seemed to keep him on his toes, pressuring him into demanding more goods from Pogtopia which cost him sleep. Phil only called half bull, he knew how busy kings were but they had the power to keep overstepping nobles in line.
November 16, 2024 at 10:29 AM
Phil couldn't live with that. So he resigned, not after verbally ripping Techno a new one, though.

Their contact was limited after that, Techno hardly answering his letters which the man kept blaming on paper work and audiences.
November 16, 2024 at 10:28 AM
He knew Tommy would not have a bad life at their court, far from it if he was being realistic, but he was a father, and just imagining having one of his chaos lizards simply taken from him for political reasons...
November 16, 2024 at 10:28 AM
Three of Techno's advisors retired the second they had returned, Phil included. No matter how much he loved his friend, he couldn't fathom just /why/ he'd choose to do this to the kid.
November 16, 2024 at 10:28 AM
It definitely put pressure on Pogtopia, having the wanted effect of keeping them from acting foolish and starting another war. But it had also put pressure on the Empire.
November 16, 2024 at 10:28 AM
And yet, Techno didn't take that advice for reasons beyond his understanding. When negotiations had ended, he remained firm in his decision, taking the crown prince with him and leaving the promise of his safety behind.
November 16, 2024 at 10:27 AM
No matter how risky the treaty may have been, it would never justify a child being plucked from the safety of their home. They could always keep negotiating, keeping troops on foreign ground to ensure pressure if necessary.

His advisors had agreed.
November 16, 2024 at 10:27 AM
When Techno had first mentioned it to him during their meeting with Pogtopia's king, Phil had given his friend a very stern yet respectful lecture about the consequences for the child.
November 16, 2024 at 10:27 AM
The initial choice to keep the crown prince as collateral was frowned upon by Phil and many of their closest friends. It was an outdated practice for reasons, ending in way too many tragedies usually accompanied by even more wars they were supposed to prevent.
November 16, 2024 at 10:26 AM
Even more so as this would do the exact opposite of what he intended with his action.
November 16, 2024 at 10:26 AM
Phil's head was spinning as he kept reading, trying to prove the claims false the very second his mind had processed the words enough to let him think. It didn't make sense, no matter how much disdain Techno may have felt for the opposing king, he'd never stoop that low.
November 16, 2024 at 10:26 AM
He knew his friend to be a man of honour, not a vicious monster whose moral alignment was gray at best.
November 16, 2024 at 10:25 AM
Phil knew his friend well. Very well, and Techno would never be as ruthless as to kill an innocent child he swore to protect. He may make questionable choices at times but he'd NEVER break promises, whether that be to friend or foe.
November 16, 2024 at 10:25 AM
Yet, here Phil was, having sat up straighter in his chair as his eyes roamed the paper, trying to process the information he had just read.
This couldn't be real. He refused to acknowledge that this was real in any shape, way or form.
