Congress is proposing to expand the harsh time limits to SNAP, which limit many participants to 3 months of assistance over 3 years unless they are working. Yet the average unemployment spell lasts over 5 months. Harsher time limits would cut benefits and increase hardship for thousands more!

The Senate's budget plan maintains many harmful provisions to SNAP/CalFresh. Expanded time limits will make family budgets even tighter and put services like child care out of reach for thousands of Californians!!

‼️Congress is pushing an unprecedented cost shift of #SNAP onto states. If California can’t meet the burden of 25% of costs, it could opt out entirely - leaving thousands of low-income families without food aid. This is reckless and dangerous.
