Mei Changsu is a badass!
Thanks for your reporting. Been following for a long while. Sucks that this site is embodying the toxicity the other has assumed😞. Politics in a democracy is about influencing policy that matters to most. Most people are in the center yet the fringe is loud and it’s become a religion & dogmatic.

Singular difference between Rs & Ds is the existence of myriad influencers (podcasts now, radio talk shows before) who primary R voters are heavily influenced by. D’s OTOH don’t have the same extent of influence. Also, varying degrees of disagreement in D coalition lacking a unifying influence.

Very interesting! Sounds similar to the Shiva/Parvati concept. It’s amazing two cultures miles apart still share commonalities. This exposure to ancient cultures enables acceptance of these concepts, that seem deviant to others, more easily.

In eastern cultures like India trans folks have been ever present in society, and in religion. The Hindu god Shiva is revered in the half-man, half-woman form and is considered one of Shiva's most powerful forms. The west finds these ideas alien/incompatible with their teachings hence the repulsion.

This whole trans thing reminds me of how gays were treated in the 90”s and early 2000. It took Matthew Shepherd’s death to turn the tide. As more people are personally affected in their lives, the acceptance will grow. Nobody wants a colleague harmed or shamed! Tho there’ll always be naysayers.

What changed the political ecosystem completely since the 2010’s, is the online access to info and the emergence of new media. Information overload and dissemination of it is pervasive. This has altered the way public opinion is getting shaped thereby influencing short term alliances.

What an awful tragedy!!! Heartbreaking. Refugees and immigrants come in droves because employers employ them, often in untenable conditions. Why doesn’t anybody ever go after them instead of just the workers? How do they get away with employing someone illegally?

Del Rio was a canary in a coal mine and has been written about extensively. The Biden admin ignored this at their peril. Letting the flood gates open to turn neighborhood into slums. Nobody wants that where they live. Misreading the asylum situation has been a malpractice that we’re paying for.
