Stillness is not the absence of thought.

Stillness is the ability to let thought pass like clouds without grasping.

This is the real work.

Mini practice:

- Sit in nature.
- Allow thoughts to arise.
- When your brain tries to make sense, simply say:

“Thank you. I am not here to learn. I am here to exist like the tree exists.”

Every time you allow yourself to sit without fixing or planning, you’re rewiring your nervous system.

It’s not laziness.

It’s nervous system integration.

The deeper healing isn’t to force more rest.

The deeper healing is to feel safe while being unstructured.

No outcome.

No lesson.

No optimisation.

Just being.

You’re not lazy.

You’re not broken.

You’re bumping into an old survival contract:
“If I’m not producing, I’m not safe.”

With nothing to "do", your system risks exposure to your vulnerable parts:

- The part that fears being unworthy.
- The part that fears being lost.
- The part that still holds grief, shame, unmet needs.

Stillness exposes you to yourself.

Why does your brain do this?

Because stillness takes away:

- control
- external feedback
- identity reinforcement

It exposes you to raw being. And that feels unfamiliar.
June 9, 2025 at 9:33 AM
Even your healing time gets hijacked:

“I should make the most of this retreat.”
“I need to journal something profound.”
"I should plan my next move while I rest.”

This is performative rest.
June 9, 2025 at 9:33 AM
You finally carve out time to rest.

But instead of peace, you feel:

- agitation
- restlessness
- guilt
- pressure to “use the time well”
June 9, 2025 at 9:33 AM
Your nervous system was trained to equate:

control = safety
productivity = worth
doing = survival

So when you're not doing, your system panics.
