And I ran over my time with my first class because we were so into the discussion we were having about beliefs and ideals! When my homeroom came back we also had a great discussion about technological innovations!

And today we did a soft launch into both ELA and social studies content. I love social studies day zero because I get to talk about the connecting themes for this year…

But we aren’t deep into our studies yet. Yesterday was our first day and mainly about going over school procedures and classroom expectations…

This is the happiest I’ve been with my room flow. However, we will see how the kids move around and adapt to it in the next few days. Yesterday and today were fine…

any money for the new school year. I am grateful for everything I'm given. Which, since this has been long enough and I could go into more of a rant about the state of things - I'll end this here.

Thank you for purchasing items off my wish list! You have no idea how much it truly means to me.

It'd be really, really great if we could all have a bit more money from our state or local district to buy the items we know will benefit our students. You'd think that they'd account for inflation, but I've received the same amount each year. I realize that some districts don't give their teachers

it's important now, more than ever for people to realize that most public school teachers aren't worried about "turning kids" into anything other than nice, kind, critical-thinking people who might do some homework and show that they understand the standards the state mandates we teach.

I knew that the pay wasn't great, sure...but that doesn't mean I shouldn't get paid a liveable wage. EVERYONE should be paid a liveable wage - but that's a different conversation. As a female-dominated profession, education is an undervalued career field. With the attacks education is facing now...

teaching adults and children in martial arts, and most importantly teaching my own children to be good, kind, open-minded human beings. I admit that coming into my teaching career I am paid more than others because I started with a MAED and have credited military service into my pay.

this is what I feel I am meant to do with the rest of my life. In one way or another since graduating high school in 1994, I have been a teacher. Teaching fellow soldiers how to do something as a team member, teaching soldiers as a squad leader then as a platoon sergeant...

but it has never been enough - at least not in my lifetime.Speaking of my lifetime, l'll be the big 5 0 later this year. This school year is my third year of certified teaching. I came into the education field much later in life, and as cheesy as it sounds...

A big thanks to whoever bought cleaning items and recess games! It's ridiculous that each year, countless numbers of public school teachers make wish lists for items for their students due to a lack of funding. It doesn't matter if the funding is from the local, state, or federal government...

I’m sorry I just saw this. Posted that last night before bed. Thank you so much!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I’ve typed too much, so… Most of the items have a note on why it’s on the wishlist. There’s a variety of items. And if all you can do is share the list, that’s still helpful. Thanks for reading

Other items help the flow and management of the classroom which really affects the overall feeling of a classroom. A truly unorganized classroom can negatively impact behavior, which hampers learning for all students.

I strive to give my students the type of classroom where they feel safe, seen, and accepted. You may wonder how some of the items on the list help with that. Some of the items help to create a fun environment that they want to come back to.

I’ll be on a two person team this year, back to teaching ELA and social studies (I taught math last year). My first year of teaching I taught 5th grade ELA and social studies. Anywho…everything on the list will help me and my students. And not just the ones I’ll have this year.
