I think it can be said that this is a good representation of my personal aesthetic: flowers and hand tools

Not nailed together yet, but it actually is looking like a cupboard now!!!! All of this work has been done by hand without power tools.

Made an important saw cut on a big project on Saturday and tomorrow I need to replicate it. Send good vibes and prayers for steady hands.

I wish I could just directly imprint fall colors into my brain.

Did you know Virigina is at her prettiest in the fall when she's has just elected her first woman as governor and turned the state leadership blue again?

When we get new books in the library at work, we have a system to request to be the first to check it out.
I may have screamed a little on the inside when I saw this and my name is indeed the first to request to read.

I am so grateful to finally have a craft room where I can lay out fabric and cut out patterns on the floor without having to contort myself around furniture.
I'm also more in love with this fabric than ever. This is going to be a wrap dress with a lovely full skirt.

Sheep are very important to mental health.

Screw it, we need nice things too right now:
Got a cute sticker for my cane. I've started to have to use it when my vertigo is acting up or my knees are misbehaving, so it felt right to decorate a little.

Oh it'll definitely be my bumblebee friends. I'll also accept honey bees too. Love a good fuzzy pollinator.

In Good Things, this weekend I finished knitting a new hat in yarn I handspun! It's even got cute little tassles I made.

Pattern is Norby by Gudrun Johnston.

At work but thinking about her (my Norby hat made with handdyed and handspun yarn.
I have almost never been let down by a good wave pattern, and this is no exception.

I'm working my way through a big cloud of lovely undyed BFL, making a superfine yarn for a friend. BFL has become one of my fave, more reliable wools to spin.

Before I could start the new BFL, I had to wind up this delightful wool/silk blend from Fossil Fiber, dyed with inspiration from Howl's Moving Castle. It's 700 yds of drapey superfine goodness.

Got a fun package yesteday: BFL wool from a friend to #handspin into a superfine yarn for her! Looks like I'm going to be doing #TourdeFleece2025 after all!
(This BFL is sooo soft and lofty and I think is gonna be a joy to spin.)

Just discovered that my fave wreath has a bird's nest.
It's been an inside wreath for many years and this year Husband put it outside and it took like 3 weeks for this to happen.
Torn between letting the birds have their shelter but worrying about damage to a wreath I can't replace. Ahhhhh.

This jerk keeps messing with some of my potted plants. I've never known a more disrespectful squirrel.
June 28, 2025 at 11:27 PM
I got it washed and set, and now I'm knitting this #handspun beauty!
And can confirm it is indeed soft stripes that are fairly random in appearance. I'm using Nim Teasdale's Blossonleaf shawl pattern.

I feel like when the forecast looks like this, it's reasonable, to not ask people to work outside or in non-AC'd spaces, all day?
Well, anyway, so far my job's senior leadership hasn't even acknowledged that it'll be literally hell and how they plan to keep staff safe. As usual.

What's on my Wheel?

A beautiful gradient blue blend of BFL and silk from Fossil Fibers, inspired by Howl of Howl's Moving Castle.

I'm aiming for a very light fingering or lace weight 2-ply, and so far it's cooperating really well!

Good thing of the day:
Some very wet sheep
(It's been pouring rain for like 12 hrs, so generally the #sheep look like they got forgotten in the washer)
