The article was a long mind bending road across many disciplines in its conceptualisation and development. I loved it!

We argue that we as researchers, should actively acknowledge and address these hierarchies in our work to avoid marginalisation and support ethical, empathetic, and rigorous knowledge production to meet the needs of society.

Where we define #knowledgehierarchies as it relates to marine biodiversity governance and consider how current research in the field has been shaped by Western-oriented knowledge systems leading to a dominance of natural sciences.

We call for an update in environmental decision-making & the precautionary principle to reflect mandates to integrate all available decision-making in spite of uncertainty in assessments of foreseeable harm.
