A country recognizing a legal status that occurred outside the country is not acceptance. Really gross for someone to argue that it's okay because Israel does the bare minimum of acknowledging an existing legal status.

"Jurisdiction recognizes marriage that can't legally occur in said jurisdiction if it occurred legally elsewhere" isn't even particularly special. That was a thing in the US before federal legalization. That was a thing for interracial marriage in the US South before legalization too...
