This is an important investigation and the context I’d add as a sociologist is how hard-to-use these programs already are for many—from years-long waiting lines for section 8 or housing, to lack of landlords willing to rent to Section 8 households, and ongoing loss of public housing units

Funding to implement ranked choice voting in D.C. just passed the Council, 8-4! Bonds, Felder, Mendo, McDuffie are the only dissenters.

Huge move here that could upend the 2026 elections (when the mayor, Council chair, AG and lots of Council seats are up) if it goes into effect in time.

#BreakingNews - DC Mayor Muriel Bowser - using an obscure budget law provision - intends to reduce a looming $1.1 billion cut imposed by Congress by legally increasing city spending 6% ($679 million) and cutting spending by $410 million. Details to council next few weeks.
