First time I met Martti Ahtisaari was during his UN years. I was hitching a ride to JFK, where president Mauno Koivisto was going to arrive later. Ahtisaari sat down in the front seat of the limo, and promptly fell asleep, napping all the way to the airport. An enviable and useful skill.

Just finished watching Star Trek TNG for the first time all the way through. So pleasant to go back to a time when the future looked more hopeful. Also good to see that my prejudices were wrong - it’s not only about Wesley being annoying and everyone being silly on the holodeck. Onward to DS9!
