Thank you for posting the story from the student paper. They are doing a good job in a difficult spot! None of the other sources I have seen have made it clear that the suspended instructor is a Grad Student Instructor.

Just for scale, the White House is proposing to cut $5 billion from the NSF budget in 2026, about half of its budget. They're proposing another $5 billion cut from the EPA, again about half.

So this is a huge amount of money.
