Addy chose April 9 as her birthday. It was the day lee surrendered at appomattox. I have not read these books since I was a kid but I know I will always remember that detail! 💖

from La Vaughn Belle's Swarm series. 2020-present. An image from the Danish West Indies featuring a group of white people and a group of Black people standing outside of a colonial home. Hundreds of small burn marks fill the image, strategically highlighting plants and Black life.
